When you need some serious R&R, there is only one thing for it…lock the door, turn down the lights and indulge in a soak in the tub. If the experts are to be believed the ideal length of time to spend in the bath is a mere 10 to 20 minutes! Even if this is the case, we see no reason why those few minutes can’t be as luxurious and indulgent as possible, so here are out tips…
Firstly, the actual bath itself. Make sure it’s clean and run the water so it is warm but not hot (otherwise you sweat, and I mean really sweat!). Apparently, those experts also found that the best temperature for bath water is about 100.6 degrees Fahrenheit but I’m certainly not going to muck about with a thermometer, so basically, if you don’t dare lower your butt cheeks into the water - it’s too hot! While the bath to running put some clean, fluffy towels on the radiator so they’re lovely a warm when you get out.
Lighting is everything! Soft, mood lighting not only sets the scene but it also takes the edge off when I catch a glimpse of my naked self in the mirror when getting in and out the bath – that is sight that not even me needs to see! Our top tip is fairy lights plugged into the nearest socket and laid on the floor to give you a relaxed atmosphere.
Now to add the luxury to ramp your mood from chilled that to uber chilled! Light a candle or two - our Bath Time Tealight Set is perfect or choose your favourite or most relaxing scent- I often opt for our Frozen Margarita cocktail candle as it’s my favourite and find the citrus and zesty tones refreshing. Grab a beverage- it could be a cup of tea, a glass wine, a bottle of beer or a full blown cocktail with paper umbrellas, sparkly trees and a plastic parrot, but either way, in order to fully relax it’s always good to have your favourite drink nearby and finally, add a bit of music. Some people like the blues or soul but personally I prefer a bit of Bruno Mars at bath time!
So we are nearly at maximum R&R stage but for the ultimate bath time it is time to add the indulgence starting with a bath pillow. Anyone who has one knows just how much they make a bath a ba-aaahhh-th - no more neck ache, sore shoulders and tender skull from leaning against the slope at the end of the bath!
And now for the pièce de résistance! Ladies and gents, allow me to introduce you to Kiss Air Candles newest edition, our blissful Bath Melts!
Pop one of our little “cupcakes” of heaven into your tub for a few minutes before breaking up to pieces to release the most amazingly moisturising cocoa butter (your skin will love you!) and delicious scents!
There you have it – how to bath like a pro! Might seem a bit of work for a 10-20 minute soak but it’ll be worth it and anyway, who says the experts are right - surely the age old “I look like a prune!” is the only signal you need to know your bath time has come to a natural end??
